چکیده
An ionization-induced plasma grating can be formed by spatially selective ionization of gases the interference two intersecting ultra-short laser pulses. The density modulation a approach unity since is produced only where pulses constructively interfere and does not occur in destructive regions. Such large leads to efficient Thomson scattering second probe pulse once Bragg condition satisfied. By measuring efficiency, it possible determine absolute electron thereby deduce degree for given neutral gas density. In this paper, we demonstrate usefulness concept showing applications: measurement strong-field atoms molecules characterization extremely low-density jets. former application particular interest physics studies dense collision ionized with neighboring neutrals may become important-sometimes referred as many-body ionization, latter useful plasma-based acceleration that requires plasmas.

Ionization Time and Exit Momentum in Strong-Field Tunnel Ionization.
Tunnel ionization belongs to the fundamental processes of atomic physics. The so-called two-step model, which describes the ionization as instantaneous tunneling at the electric field maximum and classical motion afterwards with zero exit momentum, is commonly employed to describe tunnel ionization in adiabatic regimes. In this contribution, we show by solving numerically the time-dependent Sch...

متن کاملStrong Field Ionization in Arbitrary Laser Polarizations
We present a numerical method for investigating the non-perturbative quantum mechanical interaction of light with atoms in two dimensions, without a basis expansion. This enables us to investigate intense laser-atom interactions with light of arbitrary polarization without approximation. Results are presented for the dependence of ionization and high harmonic generation on ellipticity seen in r...
متن کاملPlasma production via field ionization
Plasma production via field ionization occurs when an incoming particle beam is sufficiently dense that the electric field associated with the beam ionizes a neutral vapor or gas. Experiments conducted at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center explore the threshold conditions necessary to induce field ionization by an electron beam in a neutral lithium vapor. By independently varying the transv...
